THE ORIGIN
THE FIRST VINEYARDS
Conatvs was born from the remnants of Fuerteventura’s ancestral vineyards, which were the first in the Canary Islands.
La Viña de Anibal was the first vineyard established on Fuerteventura and the first in the Canary Islands (1412).
In the 1950s, Fuerteventura’s vineyards reached their peak; by the 1980s, only remnants remained in the mountains, ravines, and sandy areas, due to drought and the large number of goats that roamed the island. In the 1980s, the family of Bodega Conatvs’ owner, Pedro Antonio Martín, began planting approximately 500 vines of the varieties he found scattered across the island, and Pedro continued this work into the 1990s…
